* The Society has recently contributed to the consultation exercise
launched in 2006 on the future of postgraduate funding arrangements
launched by the UK's Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
Its response was warmly welcomed by the AHRC, and the Society is
continuing its dialogue with this funding council.
** The next ANNUAL CONFERENCE - the 24th - will be held at
Newcastle University
on 27-29 June 2010.
